Meigs County Ohio

Meigs County was created in 1819 from portions of Gallia and Athens Counties and was named or the fourth governor of the State of Ohio, Return Jonathan Meigs, Jr., who was also served as the fifth United States Post Master General, and as a United States Senator.

Popular cultural attractions in Meigs County include the world-famous Fur-Peace Ranch and annual celebrations like the Big Bend Blues Bash, Party in the Park, and the Sternwheel Riverfest, which draw thousands of visitors each year to its riverfront towns.
