SUMMARY:Mental Health First Aid Training in Belle Valley
DESCRIPTION:Buckeye Hills Regional Council is offering free Mental Health First Aid training across Southeast Ohio in September and October 2024. Mental Health First Aid training teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify\, understand\, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses.  \nBy becoming certified through this evidence-based\, early intervention training program\, you can improve the quality of life for older adults and learn how to assist and support those who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. Older adults have high rates of late-onset mental health challenges\, like anxiety and depression\, and low rates of identification and treatment. This program is made possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Aging. \nLearn more about\n\nThe unique impacts of mental health and substance use challenges on older adults.\nRisk factors and protective factors specific to older adults.\nNational\, regional\, and community mental health resources for older adults and their caregivers.\nApplying the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE) in scenarios designed to reflect the unique needs and experiences of older adults.\n\nKey Concepts of the MHFA Action Plan\n\nAssess for risk of suicide or harm\nListen non-judgmentally\nGive reassurance and information\nEncourage appropriate professional help\nEncourage self-help and other support strategies\n\nWho should attend\n\nIndividuals who are a part of\, connected to\, or support older adults and their families.\n\n\n\nRegister today\n\n\n\n\nRegister at the link below. The training is limited to 20 participants and lasts from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. \n\n\nREGISTER
