DESCRIPTION:The next regular meeting of the OneOhio Region 12 Committee will be Friday\, September 13\, 10:00 a.m. at Buckeye Hills Regional Council\, located at 1400 Pike Street\, Marietta\, Ohio. The purpose of this meeting is to vote on recommending a slate of grant applications and funding amounts to the OneOhio Recovery Foundation.  During this meeting\, the Region 12 grants review committee will enter into an executive session to discuss grant applications. \nBuckeye Hills Regional Council serves as the administrative agent for Region 12 of the OneOhio Recovery Foundation\, which was created to distribute the local share of funds from the State of Ohio’s settlement with the pharmaceutical industry as a consequence of its role in the national opioid epidemic. Region 12 is comprised of Coshocton\, Muskingum\, Guernsey\, Perry\, Morgan\, Noble\, Monroe\, and Washington counties. The Foundation works with local interests to support substance misuse prevention\, treatment\, and recovery efforts and invests funds to support these efforts for Ohioans into the future. SUMMARY:Mental Health First Aid Training in Marietta
DESCRIPTION:Buckeye Hills Regional Council is offering free Mental Health First Aid training across Southeast Ohio in September and October 2024. By becoming certified through this evidence-based\, early intervention training program\, you can improve the quality of life for older adults and learn how to assist and support those who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. Older adults have high rates of late-onset mental health challenges\, like anxiety and depression\, and low rates of identification and treatment. This program is made possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Aging. \nLearn more about\n\nThe unique impacts of mental health and substance use challenges on older adults.\nRisk factors and protective factors specific to older adults.\nNational\, regional\, and community mental health resources for older adults and their caregivers.\nApplying the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE) in scenarios designed to reflect the unique needs and experiences of older adults.\n\nKey Concepts of the MHFA Action Plan\n\nAssess for risk of suicide or harm\nListen non-judgmentally\nGive reassurance and information\nEncourage appropriate professional help\nEncourage self-help and other support strategies\n\nWho should attend\n\nIndividuals who are a part of\, connected to\, or support older adults and their families.\n\n\n\nRegister today\n\n\n\n\nRegister at the link below.
