Appalachian Community Grant Program Guidelines Now Available

October 20, 2022

The Governor’s Office of Appalachia and the Ohio Department of Development have released the much-anticipated guidelines for the Appalachian Community Grant Program (ACGP). View full program details.

Over the next few weeks, Buckeye Hills Regional Council will host informational and collaboration sessions in Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Perry, and Washington counties.

The Governor’s Office of Appalachia has also scheduled an informational webinar for October 25. Registration is available HERE.

“The Appalachian Community Grant Program is a historic and unprecedented opportunity to undertake transformative work in Appalachian Ohio,” said Buckeye Hills Regional Council Executive Director Chasity Schmelzenbach. “Southeast Ohio has so many strong assets, and the Appalachian Community Grant Program presents a chance for local leaders to collaborate and build on these assets as they transform their downtowns, promote workforce development, and increase healthcare options throughout our region.”

“Our team is working closely with the staff of the Governor’s Office of Appalachia and the Ohio Department of Development to assist our communities,” said BHRC Development Director Sam Miller. “We are also in the process of scheduling in-person sessions to review the program guidelines in each of our counties and discuss with our local leaders how our communities can best take advantage of this moment together. We are so excited to help bring forward projects that will truly transform our region.”

The Ohio Department of Development and Governor’s Office of Appalachia is encouraging applicants to work with their Local Development Districts (LDD) to compile and complete their applications. Buckeye Hills Regional Council serves as the LDD for Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Perry, and Washington counties.
