Buckeye Hills Regional Council is excited to announce an opportunity for projects in need of Environmental Assessments across our eight-county region.
In 2022, BHRC was awarded a United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Brownfields Assessment Grant, providing resources for assessing brownfield properties through September 2025. This funding can support a wide range of projects, including:
- Buildings with potential contaminants such as asbestos, lead-based paint, or mold
- Former gas stations that may contain petroleum or oil products
- Vacant industrial sites, factories, or former dry cleaners
- Old school buildings or any site with potentially hazardous materials
With this grant, Buckeye Hills can offer essential services like Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Remedial Action Plans, Redevelopment Plans, Contaminant Assessment Plans, and HAZMAT reports, among others. Assessing a site for potential contaminants and developing a cleanup strategy are crucial first steps in successful redevelopment—and Buckeye Hills can help!
Currently, BHRC is in the project-finding phase and is reaching out to gather potential sites. Buckeye Hills encourages you to complete a Property Intake Form for each site and return it to Kate Dunn, Senior Planner, at kdunn@buckeyehills.org as soon as possible, but no later than June 30, 2025.
