Call for Nominations: District 18 Ohio Public Works Commission Natural Resources Assistance Council

The due date for these nominations has been updated from May 30 to May 16. The nominations received must be presented to the District 18 Ohio Public Works Committee, which will meet on May 21, 2025

Buckeye Hills Regional Council is accepting nominations for individuals to serve on the District 18 Natural Resources Assistance Council for a three-year term. Nominations are due 4:00 p.m. May 16, 2025. District 18 includes Athens, Belmont, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, and Washington Counties in Ohio.  There is one vacant position to be filled on the NRAC committee.

The NRAC consists of eleven members. The categories of organizations, units of government, or agencies are as follows:

  • A county, municipal corporation, township, conservancy district, regional or joint district or unit of local government, or regional or joint political subdivision that is located within the geographical jurisdiction of the appointing integrating committee;
  • A conservation organization, an environmental advocacy organization, or organization with a primary interest in watershed protection and restoration, the Department of Natural Resources, the Environmental Protection Agency, or the United States Natural Resources Conservation Service;
  • A city park system, metropolitan park system, or a board of park commissioners from a county that is located within the geographical jurisdiction of the appointing integrating committee, a statewide parks and recreation organization, or the United States National Park Service.
  • A statewide organization representing agriculture, an organization representing forestry interests, the Ohio Department of Agriculture, or the United States Department of Agriculture.
  • An organization representing business, local realtors, or a planning agency, including a port authority, located within the geographical jurisdiction of the appointing integrating committee.

The nomination must come from any of the categories above, but the nominee is not restricted to these categories. Nomination forms can be requested by contacting Kylee Nichols at knichols@buckeyehills.org. A letter from one of the agencies listed above and a statement of the nominee’s background or qualifications must be attached to the nomination form.
