BroadbandOhio has announced that Volume I of the Initial Proposal for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program is available for public comment. Volume I outlines existing broadband funding within Ohio, a list of the locations designated as unserved and underserved in the FCC National Broadband Map, Ohio Community Anchor Institutions (CAIs), and a list of Ohio CAIs that do not have 1-gigabit symmetrical service, and an overview of the proposed plan for the BEAD challenge process. The public comment period for Volume 1 of the BEAD Initial Proposal is open and will end on August 22, 2023. All Ohioans are invited to review Volume 1 and submit any feedback or comments by emailing broadbandohio@development.ohio.gov.
