Misty Crosby Elected President of the National Association of Development Organizations

October 20, 2021

Misty Crosby, Executive Director of the Buckeye Hills Regional Council in Marietta, was elected as President of the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) on October 19, 2021 at NADO’s Annual Business Meeting. The meeting was held in conjunction with the association’s Annual Training Conference in Portland, Oregon.

As President, she will work with the NADO Board of Directors which oversees the association’s budget and operations and develops policy on issues affecting regional development organizations. The organization was founded in 1967 to provide training, information, and representation for regional development organizations throughout the United States. Today, NADO member organizations serve local governments and the public within their regions through various programs focused on diversifying local economies, assisting businesses, creating jobs, and providing vital community services.

“We are honored to have Misty Crosby serve as President of our national association. Misty brings a wealth of expertise, knowledge, and leadership on regional community and economic development issues to the national level,” stated Joe McKinney, NADO Executive Director.  “Most importantly, she is focused on helping our nation’s local communities pursue comprehensive regional strategies for remaining economically competitive in today’s rapidly changing global environment.”

“NADO serves as a crucial link between our local and national leaders, helping tell our communities’ stories to legislators and policymakers to ensure positive change across the country,” said Crosby. “Having previously served as the First Vice President for the NADO Board of Directors, representing the Midwest region, it has been greatly rewarding to serve with my fellow Executive Committee members and see first-hand the accomplishments of the NADO team on behalf of local communities—especially amid the public health and economic challenges of the past two years.”

“I am honored to have been elected by my peers across the country to serve as the president of their association,” added Crosby, “and I look forward to working with the NADO staff and my fellow Executive Committee members on behalf of our members.”

Crosby will serve as President of the association through October 18, 2022.
