Buckeye Hills Regional Council Is Preparing to Move

December 19, 2025

Over the coming months, Buckeye Hills Regional Council will be transitioning to a new office location. After more than 20 years at 1400 Pike Street, we are planning to relocate to a new site on Glendale Road, just outside of Marietta. This move is anticipated to take place in early 2026.

Why We’re Moving

Our decision to relocate is rooted primarily in safety and long-term accessibility. With continued growth and development on Pike Street, anyone who has exited our current office and attempted to turn left knows that navigating across four lanes of traffic moving at 45 miles per hour can be challenging. As this corridor is expected to see increased heavy truck traffic in the future, our concern for the safety of staff, visitors, and partners has grown.

In addition, our new location will be outside the Ohio River flood plain. While our building has not experienced interior flooding in more than two decades, periodic flooding along Pike Street has occasionally impacted access to our office. Moving to higher ground helps reduce that risk.

What Will Be Different

No location is perfect. While not on a major thoroughfare, it is a beautiful drive along Glendale Road. Initially, we will also have less conference room space than we currently enjoy.

That said, this change creates new opportunities. We will still be able to host the majority of our meetings in the space that we will have, while we anticipate rotating large meetings and summits to different venues and communities across our region, helping us better reach and engage the people we serve.

Continuity of Services

One of the lessons we took from the pandemic is how to maintain continuity of operations during periods of disruption. Throughout the transition, we will continue to staff our Front Door for aging services in person. We will share updates as that physical presence transitions from Pike Street to Glendale Road.

Our phone lines and emails will remain active. If you plan to visit us in person, particularly in late January or early February, we encourage you to call ahead at 1-800-331-2644 to confirm the location before your visit.

During portions of the move, many staff members will work remotely while improvements at the new location are completed. And, as with any move, there may be boxes, temporary setups, and a bit of visible disruption along the way—progress can be messy.

What to Expect and When

We are approaching this transition thoughtfully and deliberately. Several steps must be completed before the move can occur, and timelines may shift as work progresses.

At this stage:

  • Permitting and surveying work for the new location is expected to begin in late December or early January.
  • Changes to our network and phone systems are planned around the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend.
  • Following that systems cutover, a phased physical move will begin, with the goal of staff transitioning to the new location in February.

As with any construction or relocation project, schedules may change. We appreciate your patience as these pieces come together.

Staying Informed

We will continue to share updates and milestones on this page as the transition moves forward. We encourage you to check back periodically for the latest information, and we thank you for your understanding and support as we prepare for this next chapter at Buckeye Hills.
