The Ohio Department of Medicaid hosted an in-person community meeting on Tuesday, June 23, at the Marietta Shrine Club to help residents, caregivers, and providers for Ohio’s Next Generation MyCare Program.
The meeting highlighted what the transition will mean for Ohioans who qualify for Medicare and Medicaid, including changes to health plan enrollment, care coordination, member communications, and the steps individuals should take before the program launches.

The Next Generation MyCare Program will begin August 1, 2026, in Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Perry, and Washington counties.
MyCare Ohio is a managed care program for people who receive both Medicare and Medicaid benefits. The Next Generation MyCare Program is designed to better coordinate those benefits through a single health plan while emphasizing person-centered care, improved communication, and stronger collaboration among health plans, care coordinators, and Area Agencies on Aging.
Participating health plans include Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Buckeye Health Plan, CareSource, and Molina Healthcare of Ohio. Eligible members are encouraged to carefully review all official mail from Ohio Medicaid to understand their coverage options. Members may select a health plan, but those who do not make a choice will be automatically assigned one by Ohio Medicaid to help ensure continuity of care.
To help residents navigate the transition, Buckeye Hills Regional Council is hosting a free educational webinar series featuring an overview of the Next Generation MyCare program and presentations from each of the four participating health plans. Upcoming webinars are available on the Buckeye Hills Regional Council events calendar. Recordings are also posted on the Buckeye Hills website and YouTube channel for those unable to attend live.
“This transition will affect many people in our region who rely on both Medicare and Medicaid, and we want residents to know they do not have to navigate it alone,” said Jenn Westfall, Aging and Health Director at Buckeye Hills Regional Council. “Our team is here to help people understand what is changing, what information they should watch for, and where to go with questions. The sooner residents review their materials and ask for help, the more prepared they can feel before the transition takes effect.”
